INTERMEASURE2016 held at Tokyo Big Sight

  1. OPENING
  2. Intermeasure 2016 was held from 28-30 September, 2016 at Tokyo Big Sight (Tokyo International Convention Center).

    More than 20,000 people in total visited the exhibition, concurrently held with 4 exhibitions: Sensor Expo Japan, ITS Technology, Soil Improvement Technology Expo and JIMA (Japan Inspection Instruments Manufacturers’ Show).
    Intermeasure 2016, aiming to showcase the latest technologies and products of exhibitors in R&D, design, manufacturing, quality management, as well as eco-friendly and/or energy-saving energy, was officially opened by the remarks by Akira Nakamoto, President of JMIF on 28th.
    He stressed that measuring instruments have been playing a significant role as a fundamental technology, in a variety of industrial and social areas, now being developed in cooperation with IoT and artificial intelligence.
    Before the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Mr. Ryu Shionoya, a member of House of Representative, and Mr. Fumikazu Sato, Deputy Director-General, Manufacturing Industries Bureau from Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry delivered speeches respectively.
    As foreign VIP guests, members from China Weighing Association and Korea Association of Standards and Testing Organizations were invited to the ceremony.
    In the afternoon, Dr. Ogawa, senior researcher of Tokyo University, as insightful keynote presentation, talked about how Japan and Japanese society should be navigated to survive in an IoT society, which attracted large audience.
    As “Student Tour” organized by JMIF, around 30 students joined the exhibition tour and visited some booths following the presentation made for students titled “measuring technologies supporting industry and society.”


  3. EXHIBITORS
  4. More than 90 major measuring instrument manufacturers, related companies and universities joined the Intermeasure 2016.

    Booths, many of which displayed new products and technologies, reflected the industrial and social trends. Visitors were busy walking around them one by one.

     

  5. SEMINARS AND PRESENTATIONS
  6. Not only Legal Metrology Seminar and The Japan Measurement Standards Forum organized by NMIJ (National Metrology Institute of Japan), also lectures were presented for audience including topics like “The trend in demand of measuring instruments for high-tech and smart agriculture”, “Introduction of FDT technology as a key in IIoT era”, and “Measurement Standards Trend in Asia.”
    Jointly held with 4 exhibitions were “robot-technology zone” and “automotive-technology zone,” at which poster presentations and lectures were delivered.
    The demonstration of robots developed by the Chiba Institute of Technology was very popular.

     
    Seminars and presentations attracting large audience

    On the 2nd day, the minister of Thai Science and Technology and the governor of TISTR (Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research) visited the Tokyo Big Sight with a delegate from the ministry, and JMIF supported to organize an exhibition tour for them. They checked on some booths with keen interest.

    Next Intermeasure will be held in 2018.
