JMIF delegation visits Taiwan
JMIF organized the delegation for Taiwan to collect information on the Taiwanese metrology system and the latest developments/trends in the semiconductor sector from 4 to 8 September.
As for metrological aspects. the delegates visited the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) to learn about the legal metrology system and The Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) to understand the latest scientific developments and Explosion-proof certification system in Taiwan.
At BSMI, participants listened intently to the detailed presentation on the legal metrology system and had a fruitful discussion with BSMI staff members.
ITRI also welcomed the delegation and introduced the outline of the organization/activities, followed by a research laboratory tour.
During the stay, the delegation visited the SEMICON Taiwan, at which some JMIF member companies exhibited. Participants were not able to have a look-around the entire site in a day since the SEMICON Taiwan is one of the largest exhibitions of semiconductor industry. However, the visit was quite worthwhile to understand the latest trend of the industry.
One of the important objectives of this visit was to convey JMIF’s congratulations on the 70th anniversary of establishment the Taipei Measuring Instruments Association (TMIA). JMIF had dinner twice with the TMIA during the stay and enjoyed the interaction with each other for the first time in five years. JMIF asked for cooperation for the ICW 2026, which will be held in Japan.
All the visits were warmly welcomed, and the mission was successful.
